When you first start a low carb diet, it’s easy to get so fixated on eliminating the refined carbs and sugar from your diet that you forget about the other side of the equation.

I know that I was guilty of this. As a matter of fact, I would be so proud of myself for staying within my carb range that I didn’t realize that I was still eating the unhealthy fats and low-quality protein that I was used to on my SAD (Standard American Diet).

  • 4 oz breakfast steak
  • 1 scoop of protein powder

Chicken strips, roasted chicken, chili, or even hummus for a high protein snack are some perfect options for protein on a low carb diet. They can also be prepared in adavance and stored for a couple of days.
