5 Keto Food Basics To Have at Home In a Pandemic

When one is experiencing a global pandemic, there is no way to know what will happen next or how badly you will be affected. This will cause a lot of stress and anxiety for some, and that’s completely understandable.

One of the ways to stay positive is to focus on the things that we can control. For many of us, we can still control what and how we eat even if our options are a bit limited.  If you decide to start keto or stay on keto during this time, here are some things that you should always try to have at home to stick with your weight loss goals.

1- High Quality Fats

Since at least 70% of the keto diet is comprised of fat, it’s important to have a good amount of high quality oils in your pantry.

Olive oil, coconut oil and MCT oil are your best options. Please try to avoid vegetable oil, soy bean oil, and canola because they are highly inflammatory.

In your refrigerator, a good amount of ghee and unsalted butter will make for tasty meals. You can also try to source almond butter and coconut butter (unsweetened) for healthy high fat snacks.

2- Low Carb Protein Powder

Protein shakes are great for those who are working out or who want a quick and filling meal. Protein powder is also a great item to have in your pantry because it lasts long and is quite nutritious if you choose the right brand.

For keto dieters, both Dymatize and NutraBio make keto friendly protein powders that gives you less than 2 grams of carbs and 25 grams of protein per scoop.

3- Frozen Berries

Frozen berries are important for vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other micro nutrients. Load ’em up in your low carb smoothies with some cream cheese for a delicious keto breakfast smoothie.

4- Low Carb Frozen Vegetables

Frozen vegetables are a great convenience to have on any diet. Fresh is always the best, but for persons who trying to avoid markets, frozen is a good substitute.

Specifically, try to get frozen cauliflower, broccoli, spinach and kale. These are all low carb vegetables that you can add to smoothies, curries, soups, or stir fry with meat to make a good low carb meal.

5- Multivitamins & Supplements

One thing I’ve noticed is that both keto and C-19 symptoms are described as ‘flu-like’. With both, you might experience headaches, coughing, fatigue and nausea. Needless to say, keeping your immune system strong is VERY important and we could all use a little help with that.

While I’ve depended on my trusty women’s gummies, you can find other sugar-free low carb supplements.

1- Tune Your Keto– Specially designed keto multivitamin with MCT, collagen and electrolytes that will provide all your daily nutrients for both men and women.

2- Nutramin– This keto multivitamin is highly rated on Amazon. It’s a 45 day supply of vitamins that’s cruelty free, gluten free and nut free.

3- Keto Bone Broth This is not a supplement/multivitamin but it does contain a wide amount of nutrients that will help to prevent keto symptoms like dizziness and lethargy. Bone broths provide immune support and can help with digestive issues.
